The only way to truly move forward is to understand the past. Perhaps not in its entirety, but with definite intention of finding some form of meaning or purpose. An analysis and synthesis of various experiences that at first feel arbitrary or whimsical eventually take root and present themselves in a logical, rational and supported design. All of our actions are driven by some inherent desire, need or lust for something bigger-something that may have stemmed from a very abstract notion. Often times these feelings, these objects of purpose can't quite be described in words but can only be felt from deep within. Such a feeling eventually becomes so profound that at once every single action seems defined by it. It isn't every day that such a purpose surfaces and becomes recognizable. So take some time to sit back, relax, breathe, reflect. Discover your purpose and move forward with ambition. Dream beautifully.
It is not often that I sit down and take time to reflect on my life and the experiences that have brought me to where I am today. This day, however, feels different. As I prepare for my journey abroad, it only feels suitable to spend a few moments in reflection.
"I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.
We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow...
Light takes the Tree; but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me, so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.
This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.” - Theodore Roethke
